Festivals

In the summer I teach yoga at festivals and events.  It is wonderful to be able to teach in nature and in festive communities, where people are so receptive, taking time out from their lives for joyful self expression.  People flourish in an environment where they are enjoying nature, music and human connections and learning about conscious living to provide an alternative to the destructive tendencies the human race has been exhibiting.  Yoga gives people strategies to transform how they live when they return to their daily lives.

I teach Tantra Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Partner Yoga along with Thai Yoga massage at Colourfest Yoga Festival, Into the Wild, Shambala, Green Gathering and Wilderness.

FARNHAM SUSTAINABILITY FESTIVAL 2024 - 23RD MAY 11AM TO 4PM
Details to follow.

Festival Workshops offered

Partner Yoga and Thai Yoga massage workshops
Partners support each other to go further and deeper into poses and balances.
In the second half of the workshop we use thai yoga massage to  experience the benefit of the deep relaxation and connectedness that comes from this form of touch and the time spent letting go.
Thai Yoga massage incorporates the use of acupressure and stretching.

Tantra Yoga workshops
This system makes us aware of our misplaced view of reality, that our true nature is Awareness which delights in each and every embodiment.  Essence nature, existing as us, views the world from our perspective but we don't need to live only identifying as any limited version of ourselves.  Tantra teaches us that through Awareness' overarching freedom to exist as every form of manifest reality, we can live our lives in touch with its innately blissful nature.  We practise to become more and more aware of the innate potential in every moment, no matter how mundane.  We are not our bodies or our minds.  We are everything.  Tantra is an ever refining process of awakening to truth.

Workshops can be tailored according to needs and time constraints.  They can involve a short introduction to theory or any of various aspects of tantric practice involving meditation, such as pranayama (
breath work), massage to open the channels for physical work, bandha (energy lock work) to prepare the internal system, work on cakras (energy centres) and nadis (energy channels),  work with sound vibrations (mantra), standing asana (poses) to strengthen and build stamina and restorative asana to deeply relax and become aware of all the elements of the 5 layered self.

Restorative Yoga
These sessions are very popular at festivals as they are deeply relaxing and opening passive stretches, held for a long time.  The purpose is to centre and reset, to release any unwanted tension.  Trauma that is stored in the body, conditioning and habits of body and mind are gently allowed to dissolve as we move slowly and gently into a few twists and bends to bring ease and a sense of integration of all the aspects of our being.  Whether it is to transition from work to being at a festival or to relax and reset after lots of dancing, Restorative Yoga can do just that -
restore our energies and our sense of who we really are.

Events
If you are having a party, many people have found that Yoga can enhance the bonding experience of the event.
It can give an increased sense of well being before or help the state of mind and body of hosts and guests, the day after.
We can tailor the session to suit you, to keep it light and flowing, relaxing and restorative or with elements
of partner work and massage, as well as some much needed Yoga Nidra to rebalance.

Yoga at yours - Please contact me with any enquiries about yoga classes in your workplace or home.

Studio hire - The lovely sound proof studio is often available for practice or other projects.
Generally £10 a session of 1 to 2 hours, but please contact me to discuss your needs or ideas.

Revitalising Yoga Week End at Braziers Park November 2019
Nothing booked yet for 2020 due to Covid.  Watch this space.

Every year I hostess a delicious rejuvenating week end at Braziers Park, a treasure, set deep in the beautiful countryside of south Oxfordshire. Braziers Park is a warm country manor house, in the rolling Chiltern Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The location is perfect for treating yourself with the loving kindness you deserve, connecting with community and nature.

The 'Strawberry Gothic' style Grade II listed Manor House has so much character and beauty: Real log fires, plentiful sofas and a grand piano are amongst its charms - all set in 57 acres of land with beautiful gardens. Braziers is a working eco-community with sheep, chickens, a walled vegetable garden and an ancient orchard.

It will be a relaxing, enjoyable week end where you will have the space to do exactly as you please.  There will be 4 guided Yoga sessions and also 2 pranayama and meditation sessions for those who are interested and like to get up early. Other delights include walking on the estate or in the stunning surrounding countryside, with 2 local pubs nearby. Or in the  wonderful country house enjoy …… reading, playing games or music, engaging in talks and discussion on working towards sustainability, meals together in the dining room made with love by the community from organic local ingredients. You can also have a massage to help detox and unwind.

This break is about well being in the broadest sense.  You can nurture your body mind and soul, take your Yoga journey to another level, make connections and friendships and have fun, relax and reflect, experiencing how an inclusive community lives.   Come and enjoy. You are bound to leave feeling restored.

Daily Programme
The following programme is only to provide a structure that can be dipped in and out of.  Please join in with as much or little that is organised as you like.  There are so many options for taking the time out you need.  For me, the key is for each person to be totally at liberty to really do what is right for them.

Arrival time on the Friday is from 3.30pm onwards.
The first class will be on Friday evening at 5pm. This will be a gentle Hatha class to help you unwind from your week and relax into this experience you are giving yourself. It will be all about grounding and opening. Then together the group will enjoy a delicious dinner and get to know each other and our hosts and home for the week end.

On Saturday there will be two Yoga classes and a guided pranayama and meditation.  In the morning we will have a longer, more dynamic class to align body and breath and allow energy to flow.  I will guide everyone to feel into what is appropriate for them.  Breakfast will follow Yoga so it will be a bit later on Saturday.  There will be tea/coffee and fruit available for anyone not doing Yoga or meditation. After breakfast and lunch there will be the opportunity to walk, explore the grounds, have a massage, relax by a roaring fire, take a long bath etc.  After lunch we will also have the opportunity to engage in a talk and discussion with one of the members of the community, who are consciously working towards sustainability.

In the late afternoon we will slow things down and enjoy a deeply restorative class.  We all spend so much time in our lives too busy to reflect on how our experiences impact on our minds and bodies, so as we have more time here, we will give ourselves the opportunity to really relax, in a safe and nurturing space where we can let any experiences we might not have fully digested yet, arise and flow thorough us. We can then have a wonderful dinner and a fun Saturday evening.  It will almost be a full moon so weather permitting we can have a fire outside and enjoy the night air.

On Sunday morning meditation and pranayama are available again. Then after a delicious breakfast, there will be a group walk involving some breath and energy work in the woods.   Yoga will be at 10.30 when our breakfast has gone down.  The session will be about integrating this connection between mind, body and breath, with an opportunity to challenge ourselves with some strong peak poses or take restorative modifications using props for those who want to keep it very gentle on the last day.  Sunday lunch will follow and the weekend will finish after lunch by 4pm.

Reviews
"I was a complete novice when I started about 6 months ago, now I try not to miss a session. Fiona really does help people at every level to enjoy yoga. As an aside it has really helped with work stress, parenting and my mental health generally (which I was not expecting!)" Juliet

"The Jones Family have been practicing
yoga with Fi for all of this year. I take my husband and two tweens/teens to the session. We all love it and benefit from the exercises to the deep recharge relaxation at the end. The kids really unwind. Not an easy thing to do, teaching awkward young bodies that are growing and learning to move. And guiding stiff older bodies that need new strength. We love you Fiona and cant wait for the next time!" Elise

"
Fiona’s yoga classes offer the perfect opportunity to develop your yoga practice, whatever your current level. She is hugely sensitive to each person’s needs and  takes great care to fine-tune her individual support." Rob

"As a newbie to yoga, I have found Fiona to be an excellent teacher. She is very patient, even with uncoordinated people such as myself! She regularly adapts the exercises to the individuals' needs so you get the maximum benefit, and gently encourages you to go that little bit further. So yes, recommended." Chris

"
Farnham friends, go to this class! It's the best. That is all." Josh

Love and thanks to Georgina Bridges for her stunning anahata chakra mandala on the studio wall and to Robert Watts for his beautiful photos.
