Hi, I'm Fiona and I am not currently offering  classes. My work is based on the Tantra and Hatha traditions, including gentle and restorative classes as well as more dynamic, vinyasa elements of practice, meditations and Yoga Nidra.  All studio classes are currently for a maximum of 6 people so that we can keep plenty of distance.  Smaller group classes can be tailored, but there is always a focus on connecting with the breath, varied poses, as well as guided relaxation, to bring ease to body and mind.  I aim to help you learn to listen to and trust the inherent wisdom of your body to maintain wellness.  There are a few public classes listed here on the website, but it only takes 3 people to make a group, so small friends and family groups are who I mainly teach.  Please call me if you'd like to find out more.

Yoga is different things to different people.  For some it can be to strengthen and realign the body or to become more flexible.  It can be to find a way of calming and nurturing the emotions, to find time out.  For some it is a spiritual practice, to change our perception of life and the world.  For me Yoga is all of these - it's about my well being, noticing what does me good and makes me live well and helps me develop a curious, playful, relaxed approach to life.

I have been practising yoga since 1985, starting in India practising Iyengar Yoga in Pune and completing 200 Hours teacher training with the Amrita School of Yoga in South London in 2012.  I am trained in Yoga Therapy at the Integrative Yoga Therapy Centre in Garopaba, Brazil and in Tantra Yoga at the Shri Kali Ashram in Rishikesh.  I have also had the opportunity to study with many great teachers on workshops and retreats over the years.  A list of all my teachers to whom I am eternally grateful is at the bottom of the page.  I am a member of the Independent Yoga Network,  CRB checked and insured.

Over the years my interest in maintaining wellness through consideration of the whole person has lead me to study different Yoga traditions, Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga massage, nutrition, Chi Gung and Mindfulness.  I incorporate elements of these in classes, workshops and consultations.

I want to thank and acknowledge all the teachers who have gone before, who I did not meet but whose influence has been incredible in bringing down through the years this beautiful tradition that with no central authority has proved itself to be true through the experiential corroboration of each of us, who find this path for ourselves.  Abhinavagupta, Ksemaraja, Patanjali, Krishnamacharya, BKS Iyengar ........ and so many more.  There is such joy in the knowledge that this cannot be taken away once we know, such strength and such a source of hope for the world.

I also want to thank my actual teachers (some in a virtual medium) who have contributed to my journey in ways they will never know.  The layers build one upon the other, each teacher's gift another leaf on the tree.

"I was a complete novice when I started about 6 months ago, now I try not to miss a session. Fiona really does help people at every level to enjoy yoga. As an aside it has really helped with work stress, parenting and my mental health generally (which I was not expecting!)" Juliet

"The Jones Family have been practicing
yoga with Fi for all of this year. I take my husband and two tweens/teens to the session. We all love it and benefit from the exercises to the deep recharge relaxation at the end. The kids really unwind. Not an easy thing to do, teaching awkward young bodies that are growing and learning to move. And guiding stiff older bodies that need new strength. We love you Fiona and cant wait for the next time!" Elise

"
Fiona’s yoga classes offer the perfect opportunity to develop your yoga practice, whatever your current level. She is hugely sensitive to each person’s needs and  takes great care to fine-tune her individual support." Rob

"As a newbie to yoga, I have found Fiona to be an excellent teacher. She is very patient, even with uncoordinated people such as myself! She regularly adapts the exercises to the individuals' needs so you get the maximum benefit, and gently encourages you to go that little bit further. So yes, recommended." Chris

"
Farnham friends, go to this class! It's the best. That is all." Josh
