Sessions
Hello and welcome. Thanks for visiting my site. I'm sorry to disappoint you but I am currently taking time out for self development and will update the site as soon as I am hosting classes in the studio or running further retreats. Gentle Hatha and Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Classes (not currently running) These weekly practice sessions are an opportunity to really enquire into what your whole being wants. I guide you to find your own level of challenge, aligning body and mind with the breath, letting go of what doesn't serve you. Sessions aim to enhance well being, increase energy flow and paradoxically allow deep relaxation. We focus on our breath and gently stretch the body before working on some standing poses, opening and balancing postures. In Vinyasa sessions, we also flow fluidly through varied series of invigorating, strengthening poses. We also enjoy some deeply opening, restorative poses or inversions, to relax into our awareness of the many layers of our embodied experience: body, senses, thoughts, emotions, breath and energy. Suggested Intention for practice (Sankalpa) Every relationship I have, will benefit from a calmer, stronger, more compassionate me. Through regular practise we can become stronger, more flexible, more energised yet more relaxed. Gradually we train ourselves out of undesired tension and posture, ingrained through stress or injury or repeated lack of consideration, while occupied in day to day activities, sitting hunched, standing unevenly etc. By being curious and noticing what is going on, every time we slouch or tense, we can come back to alert relaxation even when challenged. So the physical practice of yoga becomes a moving meditation, through awareness of the breath in the body. We can use the inbreath to open, to prepare, to galvanise, to lift. We can use the outbreath to relax and let the body go deeper. On a mental and emotional level when we worry or fear, judge or crave, through Yoga we create opportunities to notice that thoughts and feelings just arise and subside and we don't need to identify with them. Our practice is an opportunity to digest thoughts and emotions, to find more stillness between the thoughts and to become aware of and grateful for the preciousness that permeates each moment. Practising regularly, we take our awareness of how to breathe, move and relate to others into our daily lives, which is why on every level, Yoga becomes so transformative. Reviews "I was a complete novice when I started about 6 months ago, now I try not to miss a session. Fiona really does help people at every level to enjoy yoga. As an aside it has really helped with work stress, parenting and my mental health generally (which I was not expecting!)" Juliet "The Jones Family have been practicing yoga with Fi for all of this year. I take my husband and two tweens/teens to the session. We all love it and benefit from the exercises to the deep recharge relaxation at the end. The kids really unwind. Not an easy thing to do, teaching awkward young bodies that are growing and learning to move. And guiding stiff older bodies that need new strength. We love you Fiona and cant wait for the next time!" Elise "Fiona’s yoga classes offer the perfect opportunity to develop your yoga practice, whatever your current level. She is hugely sensitive to each person’s needs and takes great care to fine-tune her individual support." Rob "As a newbie to yoga, I have found Fiona to be an excellent teacher. She is very patient, even with uncoordinated people such as myself! She regularly adapts the exercises to the individuals' needs so you get the maximum benefit, and gently encourages you to go that little bit further. So yes, recommended." Chris "Farnham friends, go to this class! It's the best. That is all." Josh |
