tantra yoga
YOGA has so many interpretations, from 'yoking cattle' to 'oneness' and the brilliant description of my teacher Hareesh Wallis (hareesh.org) incorporates many of the given translations for the actual word 'YOGA'.  "Yoga means joining oneself (yoga) firmly to a spiritual discipline (yoga), the central element of which is the process (yoga) of achieving integration (yoga) and connection (yoga) to reality, primarily through the exercise (yoga) of repeatedly bringing all the energies of the body, mind, and senses to a single point of tranquil focus (yoga)".

Tantra Yoga focusses on cultivating aliveness, awareness of the beauty in every manifestation of reality.  The tradition says that all that exists is one infinite, divine Consciousness, free and blissful.  Our direct experience of the one field of perception that we glimpse, becomes more and more constant through practices that develop our awareness of all the layers of our being and our identification with none.  We perceive a universe dancing ecstatically in the animation of its completely perfect divinity.

This reconfiguring of our view of what is real is called Awakening according to Tantric tradition and requires gentle consistent effort as well as alignment of view (why you are doing), practice (what you are doing) and fruit (outcome).  We will have more likelihood of success if we work with the effective motive of wanting to experience who we are for the benefit of all beings.  The tradition provides  a complete tool kit of coherent practices- physical, emotional and breath centred.  It places great importance on the cultivation of Awareness and building a strong energy body to permanently shift our default state/mode of being.  Developing our energy (personal sakti) makes us feel more alive and progress faster on the path.   We also need to have times of silent contemplation to plug energy leaks (what we generate drains away) and address inherited patterns of behaviour so we don't lose ’nectar through a sieve’.

It is really important to have clear teachings, usually evolved from 1 lineage, and independent practice, where you can consider each teaching within your direct experience.  There are also real benefits to having a
supportive community to explore the teachings with.
My practice is based on the Tantric orientation of moving from the grosser physical level of practice to the more subtle energy practices and there will always be a tuning in to the vibration of our essence nature in my classes and retreats.

If you are interested in finding out more about Tantric philosophy or practice please get in touch.  A great starting place is the free Foundations of Tantrik Yoga course on tantrikainstitute.org

"I was a complete novice when I started about 6 months ago, now I try not to miss a session. Fiona really does help people at every level to enjoy yoga. As an aside it has really helped with work stress, parenting and my mental health generally (which I was not expecting!)" Juliet

"The Jones Family have been practicing
yoga with Fi for all of this year. I take my husband and two tweens/teens to the session. We all love it and benefit from the exercises to the deep recharge relaxation at the end. The kids really unwind. Not an easy thing to do, teaching awkward young bodies that are growing and learning to move. And guiding stiff older bodies that need new strength. We love you Fiona and cant wait for the next time!" Elise

"
Fiona’s yoga classes offer the perfect opportunity to develop your yoga practice, whatever your current level. She is hugely sensitive to each person’s needs and  takes great care to fine-tune her individual support." Rob

"As a newbie to yoga, I have found Fiona to be an excellent teacher. She is very patient, even with uncoordinated people such as myself! She regularly adapts the exercises to the individuals' needs so you get the maximum benefit, and gently encourages you to go that little bit further. So yes, recommended." Chris

"
Farnham friends, go to this class! It's the best. That is all." Josh
